Sheet Music & Instruments

There are quite a number of places to pass on unwanted musical instruments, depending on both your preferences, and the quality and condition of the instruments. Charity Shops, Online Auctions, Community Forums, and music charities all have their uses.

Instruments In Good Condition And Good Quality – Ether try selling perhaps via a specialist site or donate to suitable Charity

Instruments In Reasonable Condition – Try selling (whether via an general auction site, or a more specialist instrument site), donate to a suitable charity, donate to a charity shop, some (such as branches of Oxfam or Cancer Research seem to specialise in good items), or give away on a community forum such as Freegle or Freecycle.

Instruments In Need Of Repair – If repairable, but you don’t want to go to that expense yourself, try donating to a suitable charity, or giving away via a community forum such as Freegle or Freecycle, though make sure you mention that is needs repairing. Selling via a specialist instrument site may be a possibility too.

Sheet Music – Quite a number of charity shops will take sheet music. If the music is particularly unusual you might want to try an auction site, or even an ephemera dealer. A good deal of sheet music, if well used, can end up looking tatty (particularly if full of rips), but like any item of ephemera or memorabilia, that does not necessarily mean it is past it, as, if you know what you are doing it may well be possible to repair it (but don’t try repairing unusual items unless you know exactly what you are doing).
